Chickadee Words gives back a portion of books sales to help educate kids in these two specific charities. Please read and learn about each of them and the good they do for kids. You can also be a part, if you desire.

School Readiness Program:
Reach Out and Read Kansas City makes literacy promotion a standard part of pediatric care so that children grow up with access to books and engaged parents, and enter school ready to learn. Starting at birth through age five, doctors incorporate a book and the importance of reading into routinely scheduled well-child checkups utilizing three components:
(1) counseling parents about the importance of reading aloud to their young children every day;
(2) giving the child a free, new developmentally and culturally appropriate children's book to take home during their well-child checkup;
(3) creating literacy-rich waiting rooms with volunteer readers, reading corners, and books.
Chickadee Words has donated several books to various pediatric offices recently, and now Reach Out And Read. Additional monetary support has also been given to this worthy organization for the purchase of new books. We’re very excited to be a part of this important work!
Hi and welcome to our page. This project was founded in Madrid in 2014 by two Spanish women and an Englishman. Our mission is very simple and specific. We support several small schools in and around Kampala, Uganda.
The public school system in Uganda is broken, and so private schools are everywhere. The only chance that children really have of acquiring an education is to find a place in one of these schools. Now when we say private schools, don’t think of it in the same way as we do in the UK or USA. These are not elitist establishments, only for the rich. The cost, for example, to pay for an education for one child for one year in one of our schools is £75!
(2/19 update: £111/year or just under $150.00)
At present, we are paying for 28 children. Our project is small and we want to keep it that way, under control and with 100% of the money collected going directly to the school. Each sponsor has a relationship with the child they sponsor, with report cards and occasional letters from the children.
We also have appeals from time to time for desks for the schools and also for clean water projects. If you are interested in participating in any of these projects, or if you have any questions, please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org, or ask a question on our Facebook page. We stopped using our websites as we could not justify the expense of them, and FB seems to work better for us.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and we hope you will work with us to bring some light into the kid’s worlds.
Chickadee Words is very pleased to be a part of this wonderful ministry. Below is a picture of the desk purchased by us for the school. I love the words we selected for the front! We’ve also given towards school supplies.
We are sponsoring the next year of education for a 10-year old young lady named Charity. We are in communication with her through letters. It is wonderful and special to have a close relationship with her through Infancia Uganda and the school!
